Manufacturing Process

For manufacturing cellular shades, multiple layers (such as two or more) of fabrics are pleated together for forming cells or channels. Since these air chambers look like honeycombs, they get their name, honeycomb blinds, and shades. These cellular shades can be made using translucent and thin fabric so that they allow light into your room but keep the heat out.

Number of Cells

One, Two, or Three Cells

Cellular blinds and shades can have one, two, or three pockets or cells in every layer. If there are more cells, there will be a higher number of air layers and you will be getting better insulating value. Double or Triple layer cell shades make for great insulating blinds, providing excellent protection against excessive heat or cold.

But, these will be costlier than blinds that have fewer cells in every layer. Moreover, another issue with multi-layer cellular blinds and shades is that they would be bulkier in comparison to ones that have single cell construction.
